Chris Taylor Competes in 100km Cycling Challenge to Support MS Nurses and Raise Awareness for Multiple Sclerosis
Chris Taylor, Director of Finance & Operations here at C&C Fabrications has decided to undertake a daring challenge as he prepares to take on a remarkable cycling feat that not only tests physical boundaries but also carries a noble purpose.
Inspired by his wife, a MS Specialist Nurse at York Teaching Hospital, Chris is on a mission to raise funds that will go towards the York, Ryedale and District Group charity, raising awareness for those living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as well-paying tribute to all of the MS nurses who act as unsung heroes in the lives of those grappling with MS.
Multiple Sclerosis presents a multifaceted and demanding challenge that impacts not only those who suffer from the illness, but also their families and support network. s. MS is a neurological condition that causes damage to the nerves in your brain and spinal cord (the central nervous system). ‘Sclerosis’ means scarring and refers to the damage to the nerves caused by MS. ‘Multiple’ is added because this can happen in more than one place. This is one of the most common causes of disability in younger adults, and affects your vision, movement, sensation, and balance making it deeply debilitating and often painful.
On 3rd September 2023, Chris will embark on a challenging yet rewarding cycling journey called The Yorkshire Corker. This encompasses a significant distance of 100km through the captivating landscapes of the Howardian Hills. The Yorkshire Corker is now in its 6th year and is aimed at raising money for local charities. The event was set up in 2017 by Scott Caul as a fundraiser for as many local charities as possible.
The charity that Chris has decided to donate to is called the MS Society, which is a community of people living with MS, researchers, fundraisers, campaigners, and volunteers. Chris’s initial target was to raise £250, however he, and the whole team at C&C Fabrications is delighted to have now surpassed this figure threefold and now stands at £1,055.
Chris Wallage, Managing Director, and co-founder of C&C was asked to comment on Chris’s charitable fundraiser. “Chris has been with us for a long time and this remarkable challenge that he has decided to undertake is a true testament to his kind-hearted, generous, and hardworking nature. Everyone here at C&C are incredibly proud of Chris and we wish him all the best in raising funds for such a fantastic cause”.
Chris’s quest goes beyond the cycling track – it’s a pursuit of purpose that will give MS staff their deserved recognition and help others to better understand what MS is. “I must say that I’m very excited and slightly nervous, but in a good way. Cycling is a passion of mine and I want to show appreciation to my wife and her colleagues for the courageous work that they do for their patients. I hope that this will also help to raise a little bit more awareness around the MS condition. I can’t wait to get going and I would like to just quickly thank everyone that has supported me and contributed. It means a lot”
